A book that explains the world

Almost seven billion people are living on the earth. What do they experience over the course of one day? We want to find out. And that by collecting countless stories from all over the world on a certain day (09/09/09) on our website [link]. The best stories will be translated into eight languages and published in a book worldwide.

You have got the golden opportunity to take part in an unprecedented experiment. Write down your personal experience in September 09 as well as many other people all over the world will do. Even today participants from different countries write down their everyday experiences which will be published regularly on the website. All these stories shall describe our world, engage tolerance for different views and deliver insight into foreign cultures. “A Day On The Planet” shows the way in times of war, racism and intolerance.

A part of the proceeds of the book sale will be donated to a charity organisation. This will be made possible by an ambitious team consisting of journalists, authors, students, web designers and translators who are spread all over the world and share a common vision: One Day, Seven Billion People, Your Story.


If you don't want to write a story, you can also send us your picture of the day 09/09/09! The motif is freely selectable, but the picture must be taken on this day! You must include your name or the name of the photographer, the place name (town/city, region and country) where you take the picture and a fairly precise time. A caption isn't necessary, but if you want to write one, it has to be very short.
